Reading all the best digital marketing blogs, subscribing to the top marketing newsletters and following influencers on social media - these are all undeniably effective ways to keep up with marketing trends and get the creative juices flowing.
But us marketers lead hectic lives and don’t always have the time to sit down and read marketing emails, blogs, whitepapers or guides whenever we want to. If you’re strapped for time and have a ton of bookmarked blogs you can’t seem to get to, podcasts may just be the answer to all of your marketing research problems.
More people than ever are gravitating to podcasts to feed their hunger for knowledge. The podcast listener base grew 23% from 2015 to 2016, and as many as 21% of Americans listen to podcasts (21% is also how many Americans use Twitter!).
We’re sharing our 6 favorite marketing podcasts to help you sharpen your skills and keep a pulse on marketing news - podcasts we love and can’t stop listening to!
1. Content Inc. with Joe Pulizzi
Founder of the Content Marketing Institute, Joe Pulizzi is an expert on everything content marketing and is committed to helping businesses write more compelling and engaging content. If you’re looking for ideas and trends to inspire your 2017 content marketing, you should definitely tune into his podcast, Content Inc.
Pulizzi releases this 5- to 10-minute podcast twice a week. Episodes cover everything from content marketing predictions and social media trends to goal setting and productivity. Trust me. You’ll be hooked in no time!
2. Marketing School
I always have at least 5 episodes from this marketing podcast downloaded and ready to play. What can I say? I’m obsessed. Marketing School shares actionable marketing advice and insights from two of the industry’s leading influencers, Neil Patel and Eric Siu.
What’s great about this podcast is that new episodes are released every single day and the episodes only run for about 10 minutes. You can squeeze in time to listen to them on a coffee run, while jogging, during your work commute or whenever. The episodes focus on a wide spectrum of digital marketing topics and share tips you can start implementing right away. I told you it was worth checking out!
3. Marketing Over Coffee
Marketing Over Coffee is hosted by marketing gurus, Christopher Penn and John Wall, and gets its name from two of my all-time favorite things in the world: marketing and COFFEE. Episodes clock in at under half an hour, just enough time to enjoy your morning almond milk latte and hear what’s new in the marketing world.
The show features interviews with top influencers and shares creative and unique marketing ideas for your campaigns. You can download recent episodes on your podcast app of choice or search through this treasure trove of past episodes (almost 10 years of archived episodes!).
Recent topics include how to increase Pinterest traffic to your blog, how to grow your email subscriber list by 750 subscribers a day, and how to respond to declining organic reach. I may be biased, being a writer and blogger and all, but I definitely think this podcast is worth downloading!
5. This Old Marketing
Another great podcast to check out is This Old Marketing, hosted by Joe Pulizzi (can you tell I’m a huge fan?) and Robert Rose, Chief Content Strategist at the Content Marketing Institute. This weekly podcast discusses the latest news in content marketing along with a marketing example from the past you can learn from. The episodes are fun, insightful, and never more than an hour.
6. Online Marketing Made Easy
Amy Porterfield, a co-author of “Facebook Marketing All-in-One for Dummies” and online entrepreneur, is the creator of the podcast, Online Marketing Made Easy. In this podcast, Porterfield shares proven tactics for boosting lead generation, building brand authority, growing your email list, and the list goes on. Even better, she breaks strategies down into step-by-step actions to help you get incredible results faster.
Download and save these podcasts for road trips, workday traffic jams or whenever you have a few minutes to spare. After a few days of listening, you’ll be bursting with new ideas you can’t wait to implement!
